Following the recent tornado, the Village of Roscoe is actively coordinating cleanup efforts with regional partners, including the Village’s waste hauler, Waste Management, to assist residents with the disposal of storm-related debris.
Landscape Debris Disposal Guidelines
Regular Weekly Service (Waste Management)
Residents may dispose of landscape debris such as branches, leaves, and tree limbs using the following guidelines:
- Branches should be cut into lengths of 4 feet or less
- Branches should be under 2 inches in diameter for standard collection
- Bundle and tie branches if not bagged
- Place debris at the curb or adjacent to your property for pickup
Storm-Affected Areas – Additional Assistance (Village of Roscoe Public Works)
In areas significantly impacted by the storm, the Village will provide additional assistance for larger debris:
- Larger branches and limbs will be collected by the Village
- Items must be cut into manageable pieces weighing 50 pounds or less
- All debris must be placed at the curb for collection
Safety Reminder
Residents are strongly encouraged to work with licensed landscape or tree care professionals when cleaning up storm damage—especially for large trees, stumps, and heavy branches.
Handling large or damaged trees can be dangerous, and using qualified professionals helps reduce the risk of injury to residents and ensures safer conditions for Public Works crews assisting with debris collection.
Additional Information
- Do not place debris in the street or block sidewalks
- Do not mix materials: Landscape debris must be kept separate from all other waste. Household trash, construction debris (including lumber/wood), and other non-landscape materials will not be collected with yard waste
- Collection schedules may vary as crews work through affected areas
The Village appreciates your patience and cooperation as we work to safely and efficiently complete storm cleanup operations throughout the community.
